S2 Games releases the highly anticipated Linux client for Savage 2: A Tortured Soul.
There is probably no title Linux gamers have been anticipating more than Savage 2. The Linux environment has always been wholeheartedly supported by S2 Games, and the Linux community was very active in playing Savage 1 and in participating in the Savage 2 beta-testing. But, Savage 2 was released in January, without the promised Linux client. This caused grave concern for those Linux gamers who followed the release so closely and who pre-ordered the game title. Some went so far as having purchased the Windows version just to play through an emulator. Well, worry no more! Today, S2 Games made good on their promise, making both the 32-bit and 64-bit Linux clients available.
S2 Games delivers a whole new genre of gaming with their Savage series, in what they call a "Real Time Strategy Shooter". While most of the team participates in player versus player combat, the team lead builds up a community village that can better equip the team. Meanwhile, the opposing team, while building up their own village, works to bring siege weapons within striking range. The gameplay is just as fast-paced as you would imagine, but the environment is also beautifully rendered.
We could go on and on about Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, but this would only take away from your time playing the game. Expect to hear much more in the coming months, on this topic. So, until then, download the client and try out the no-cost trial period!
